This is a great example of a un-issued (British made white backing) Canadian Princess Louise IV Dragoon Guards embroided shoulder title. During the Second World War, the active service battalion mobilized on 26 January 1941 as the 4th (Active) Princess Louise Dragoon Guards, CASF, and was converted to an armoured reconnaissance unit on 11 February 1941 as the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion (4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards), CASF, serving initially in reconnaissance with the 1st Canadian Infantry Division before converting to infantry on 13 July 1944 and reverting to armoured reconnaissance in March 1945. "A" Squadron landed in Sicily on 13 July 1943, the remainder of the regiment on 26 August 1943, with the full regiment entering Italy on 30 September 1943, serving in the Italian Campaign as part of the 12th Infantry Brigade, 5th Canadian Armoured Division. The regiment transferred to North-West Europe on 26 February 1945 before disbanding its overseas component on 15 December 1945.
