A nice little set of (Dutch and US Army) badges to the Dutch Stoottroepen Regiment and US 9th Army
This is a great little set of badges as worn by members of the Dutch Stoottroepen Regiment who were under US 9th Army command. In September 1944, shortly after the liberation of the south of the Netherlands, various resistance groups formed the Stoottroepen as part of the Dutch Interior Forces. The volunteers came primarily from the provinces of North Brabant, Limburg, and Zeeland. The Stoottroepen of the Limburg Command were under American command. The Allies lacked sufficient personnel to man the front in the south of the Netherlands and could certainly use the assistance of the "Stoters." The Limburg Stoottroepen were deployed in support of several American divisions and reinforced the front in the south of the province by providing guard and patrol duties. They were active not only in the southern Netherlands, but also in Belgium, France, and deep inside Germany, often fighting against the retreating German army. This set of badges consist of a British made Stoottroepen shoulder title and a US made 9th Army shoulder badge.
